The Hon. Dr. Dorcey Applyrs has built a personal and professional life in the City of Albany devoted to improving the quality of life for residents in her community. Dr. Applyrs was appointed as Chief City Auditor in January 2020. Prior to this appointment, Dr. Applyrs served on the Albany Common Council after being elected in 2014 and re-elected in 2018. She moved to Albany in 2003 to pursue graduate-level education and since has earned a master’s degree and doctorate in public health from the University at Albany School of Public Health. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Delaware State University. Dr. Applyrs resides in Albany with her loving and supportive husband Don-Lee and beautiful daughter Noble.
